De Bosset Bridge
One of the best attractions in the capital of Kefalonia, Argostoli, is the De Bosset bridge on the Koutavos Lagoon. The bridge is the largest stone bridge on a seawater body in Europe and has been in existence since 1813.
It was just when the Swiss engineer Charles Philippe De Bosset was employed by the British Army and became island governor (1810). First the bridge was made of wood and some years later it was replaced by a construction of sandstones. A part of it subsited because of the earthquake of 1953. In 2013 the bridge was renovated and became a pedestrian one.
Walking along you can enjoy a nice walk and at the same time you can see Argostoli from a different point of view. Near the bridge you can find many coffee bars and restaurants.
